Man Dies After Fall From Scaffolding In HS Auditorium

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An adult volunteer died after falling from some scaffolding while helping out with Pine-Richland High School's spring musical.

Staff members at the high school snapped into action Monday night after 64-year-old Bradley Oberg of Cranberry fell from some scaffolding inside the school auditorium.

He was taken to UPMC Passavant and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office confirms he died around 7:45 p.m.

Police on the scene would not say whether the medical emergency happened before or after the fall.

Student performers were rehearsing when many of them reported hearing a "crash."

Sophomore Nick Gailey told KDKA's Kym Gable, "we exited in an orderly fashion and prayed over what happened. That was kind of calming, praying as a group."

Gailey says many of his classmates were concerned about the man's well-being.

Many staffers, including a school nurse, acted as first responders until medics arrived and rushed the man to the hospital.

The District says it has implemented its emergency response plan and is meeting with school counselors and psychologists.
