Primanti Bros. Manager Accused Of Stealing $30K From Restaurants

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Primanti's manager is facing charges after police say he confessed to stealing $30,000 from several of the restaurant's locations.

Police say Operations Manager Ben Bartilson took money that was to be deposited at the bank from three Primanti's Bros. locations totaling more than $30,000.

He allegedly took approximately $16,000 from the North Versailles location, $9,000 from the Robinson Township location and nearly $5,000 from the Moon Township restaurant.

After taking the money, police say Bartilson avoided a managers meeting by saying he was sick.

However, the day after the meeting, Bartilson texted the Primanti Bros. Operations Director, saying, "I can't come back. I (expletive) up bad. I don't even know how much I lost. Don't know how nobody's caught at the office yet."

Police say Bartilson admitted to blowing money at the casino after finding out that he wouldn't be getting a bonus.

"I've been a dead man walking for 3 weeks," he allegedly texted the operations director. "I've been sick about it. I couldn't stop. They are going to fire me as soon as they notice. I can't believe they haven't noticed yet."

Bartilson is charged on multiple counts, including theft by unlawful taking and misapplication of entrusted property and property of government of financial institutions.
