Report: Steelers To Release Linebacker LaMarr Woodley

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Steelers have been busy over the last week restructuring deals, handing out the transition tag and cutting players. Now, it appears you can add another name to the list of players the Steelers will cut.

According to ESPN's NFL Reporter Adam Schefter, the Steelers are cutting ties with linebacker LaMarr Woodley.

It was all but assumed that Woodley would be cut when the Steelers placed the Transition Tag on Jason Worilds.

Woodley signed a six-year, $61.5 million deal with the team back in 2011 after recording 39 sacks in his first four years with the team.

Since signing the deal, Woodley has dealt with an array of injuries from calf, to hamstring to ankle as well as weight issues that have kept him on the sidelines and limited him to sack totals of nine, four and five over the last three seasons.
