Fire Destroys Indiana Co. Home, 1 Firefighter Injured

BLACK LICK (KDKA) – One firefighter was injured while battling a blaze that destroyed a home in Indiana County late Monday night.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started around 11 p.m. at a home on Ash Street in Black Lick.

The family was able to escape safely, but watched as the home was destroyed.

Fire Chief Tim Stipcak said when they got on scene, they could see the second floor engulfed in flames.

While the cause of the fire is unknown, they believe it started in a second floor bedroom.

Chief Stipcak said after talking with the homeowners, he learned there was some remodeling being done. It's unclear what role, if any, that played in the fire.

Chief Stipcak also said one firefighter suffered a shoulder injury. However, the firefighter was treated at the scene and did not need to go to the hospital.
