Rosslyn Farms Business Damaged By Fire

ROSSLYN FARMS (KDKA) - Quick work by firefighters kept a fire from becoming a nightmare at the Rosslyn Farms Industrial Park Tuesday morning.

The blaze started in a trailer housing the offices for Product Development Corporation.

The company is the largest distributor of telephone books in the world. According to supervisor David Lister, they oversee distribution of Verizon telephone books.

Lister got a call from his manager this morning and arrived to find smoke billowing out of his workplace.

The response by firefighters was overwhelming.

Crews responded in large numbers because they didn't know how bad the fire would be when they arrived and they knew they were dealing with a large industrial structure.

Firefighters launched an aggressive internal fight and kept the fire from spreading.

Two trailers were damaged and also 25 flats of phone books.

Each flat contained 700 books. He estimates the loss from that alone at more than $50,000.

Product Development Corporation rented office space from Keystone Dedicated Logistics.

Lister says the moving and storage company, Pak Rat, also rented from KDL and also sustained damage in the fire.

The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating.

Firefighters do not believe the blaze is suspicious.
