State Police Seek Suspect In Alleged Attempted Luring In Hempfield Twp.

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police in Westmoreland County are investigating after they say a man allegedly tried to lure a little girl riding her bike into his car with ice cream.

The alleged incident happened around 3:40 p.m. Saturday on Nicholas Lane at the Green Hills Trailer Park in Hempfield Township.

According to state police, the suspect stopped his vehicle in front of the 9-year-old to block her, got out of his car and offered her an ice cream cone.

Investigators say when the little girl tried to back away from the man, he allegedly tried to grab her arm, but she managed to get away and ran back to her home.

The suspect then got back in his vehicle, turned left and "drove slowly up the roadway," state police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 40s to early 50s, standing about 5-feet-5-inches tall, with a medium build, a medium-length beard and a mustache.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, white pullover hoodie and black shoes.

His vehicle is described as an older white Chrysler Sebring with a black roof.

According to state police, witnesses reported seeing the same man and vehicle in the area within the past week. And the vehicle was "driving slowly."

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to contact State Police in Greensburg at 724-832-3288.
