Mysterious 911 Calls Prompt Repeated Police Visits To Former Mayoral Candidate’s Home
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Former Pittsburgh mayoral candidate A.J. Richardson’s frustration boiled over earlier this month after police made yet another visit to his home.
They’ve been there a lot lately and the reason why isn’t completely clear.
Cell phone video was recorded at his Sheraden home in the middle of the night in response to the 911 call. Richardson says no one from his house ever made that call.
“For the past four weeks, Pittsburgh Police have been coming to my house approximately 22 or 23 times,” said Richardson.
The Richardson family says every time, the emergency grows.
“First, it started off as a domestic dispute, then it escalated to a woman being strangled, then a woman being held at gun point,” he says.
The Richardsons contend that because of the nature of these calls, every time the police respond, they demand to come inside.
Because it’s happened so much, they feel they’re being harassed because they say they aren’t calling 911.
“My greatest fear is my safety and the safety of my children,” he said. “My family is under siege.”
In response, Pittsburgh Police spokesperson Sonya Toler says, “We are aware that the calls have been happening. We are investigating what our options are. They are excessive and can’t be ignored; they are taking officers off the street that could be responding to something more serious. We cannot ignore 911 calls.”
