HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One man was killed in an early Sunday morning accident in Westmoreland County.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened at the intersection of State Route 136 and Millersdale Road in Hempfield Township around 12:30 a.m.

The driver, Brandon Turner, 22, of Pitcairn, was traveling west on State Route 136. After failing to stop at the intersection, Turner’s Dodge Avenger struck a dirt embankment head-on.

He was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:40 a.m.

Speed is believed to have played a role in the crash.
