Man Arrested After South Side DUI Crashing Rampage
SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) – A drunk driver went on a crashing rampage through the South Side early Saturday morning and it was caught on tape.
According to Pittsburgh Police, 23-year-old Maceo Fulmore was driving in the area of 17th and East Carson Streets around 2:20 a.m., when he hit two parking signs, two trees, a fence, a telephone pole, a fire hydrant and seven cars.
He also ran over a 26-year-old man’s foot. He was treated at UPMC Mercy Hospital and will be okay.
Cell phone video recorded by Randy Jubak, of Duquesne, showed just a portion of what Pittsburgh Police say happened.
In the video you can see Fulmore’s black Jeep back into the Diesel Club window and then speed forward hitting another car.
Police say this was the end of the crash spree.
“He made the left and started going down here and he tried to get around these cars, but he couldn’t so he started ramming them,” Jubak said. “Then, when he couldn’t get out, that’s when he threw it in reverse and went flying backwards and hit in the corner here of Diesel.”
Bystanders took things into their own hands before police, who were a block away, were able to get there.
“Looks like a bunch of people came over and drug the dude out the car and then the cops came over and cuffed the dude and searched him and started patting him down and then, they put people in stretchers and it was bad last night,” Joel Morrison, a witness, said.
Fulmore, who police say was intoxicated, was also taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for a head injury and to be tested for a DUI.
He was placed in the Allegheny County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, DUI, aggravated assault by a vehicle and aggravated assault by DUI.
