Man Arrested After Elizabeth Borough SWAT Standoff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man is in custody after an overnight SWAT situation in Elizabeth Borough.

Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home along the 11-block of Tanner Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The man reportedly had several weapons inside.

"He was just distraught over some various issues, you know, that I can't go into details about," said Elizabeth Borough Police Officer John Snelson, "but he just had some problems. And fortunately, you know, we were able to get it all worked it out peacefully. Nobody got hurt. He didn't get hurt."

No shots were fired during the ordeal and SWAT operators were able to enter the house without force.

Police had the man in custody just before 3 a.m.

No word on the man's identity.
