Police Investigating After Woman Killed In Garfield Shooting

GARFIELD (KDKA) - A woman, who was three months pregnant, was shot late Wednesday night in Garfield.

Police have now issued a warrant for her boyfriend's arrest, in connection with the shooting.

Family members said 20-year-old Lauren Williams was pregnant with her first child. She was shot around 10:30 p.m. leaving a relative's house on Kincaid Street.

KDKA's Brenda Waters Reports:

Williams was shot in the head and rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

"My daughter was a good person. She was the best. Sadly she was taken away," "I can't believe this," Williams' mother, Laurell Harbour, said.

Hours after the shooting, Pittsburgh Police filed an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Kerrese Lawrence.

He will be charged with homicide and homicide of an unborn child.

"Another man took my child. Bragging about what he's done," Harbour said. "He just took my daughter away from me."

KDKA's Heather Abraham Reports:

Family members gathered at a relative's house on Kincaid Street where Williams was shot.

"My little sister just stayed the night at my house. She as supposed to come back last night. I just talked to her on the phone," Williams' sister, Lakisha Watts, said.

Family members said this tragedy is like déjà vu for them. Just two years ago, they lost another young relative. Ne'Ondre Harbour, 16, a high school student and a football player with a bright future, was the innocent victim of a shooting in the same neighborhood.
