Baldwin Home Invasion Leads To SWAT Situation

BALDWIN (KDKA)- Baldwin Police are looking for a group of armed men who forced their way into an apartment filled with children Wednesday night.

According to police, the incident happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Keeport and Travis Drives in The Residences at South Hills Complex.

The group of up to six masked men forced their way into the apartment and demanded money from a woman who lived there.

Eight children in the apartment, ages one to 13, hid in a locked bedroom.

The woman went with the men and was later dropped off on Orchard Drive in West Mifflin.

The kids hid in the bedroom for more than six hours, unsure if there were gunmen waiting outside.

A SWAT team eventually surrounded the apartment building.

They used a robot to search the apartment. At one point, officers crawled in through a window.

Around 4 a.m., they determined the children were not in danger.

No one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made.

Police are searching for the woman's 2007 Ford Explorer, which the gunmen stole.

It is white with black wheel wells and a big scratch on the back bumper.

It has Pennsylvana License Plate: JCT-3542.
