John Wehner: There Is Nothing Going Great Right Now For The Pirates

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pirates Broadcaster John Wehner joined the Cook and Poni Show in his regular weekly spot to talk about a Pirates team that has fallen on hard times after winning only four-of their past 19 games.

"The team is in such a horrible rut right now in all phases," Wehner said. "There is nothing great going on right now."

Wehner tells the guys that the pitching has not been as good as it was early last year while the Pirates bats were quiet but they have been good enough to be a .500 team if the bats were doing anything.

The Pirates left a total of 28 runners on base in a double header loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.

Wehner says he agrees that Andrew Lambo should get a consideration for right field right now.

"If I was in AAA right now I would think I deserved a shot," Wehner said. "I was wondering in spring training why Lambo didn't get a shot in right before moving him to first base."

Wehner says the Right field position is a big question mark right now and although it has only been a month he is curious to see how long they can stay with this platoon before making a move.
