Pittsburgh Woman Named PETA's "Sexiest Vegan Next Door"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Wexford woman has been named PETA's "Sexiest Vegan Next Door."
The animal rights group held a nationwide contest to find the sexiest vegan in the country.

Ashley Frohnert beat out hundreds of contestants, to make it as one of nine other female finalists before winning.

"Ashley is as attractive on the inside as she is on the outside because she has chosen a lifestyle that's kind to animals, the planet, and her own health," said PETA Special Projects Manager Alicia Woempner in a press release. "The more people get to know her, the more likely they are to say, 'No, thanks,' to chicken nuggets and cow's milk, and that's a good thing for everyone."

For winning, Frohnert gets a free vacation to Maui, Hawaii.

Frohnert Joined Larry Richert and John Shumway on the KDKA Radio Morning News. She says she entered the contest because she thought it, "would be a great way to raise some vegan awareness in the Pittsburgh region."

So, what makes someone a vegan?

"A vegan has no crudity to animals in their life. They do not eat any animal products at all, including honey, dairy, eggs. They also do not wear any animals, leather [and] wool," she said.

Frohnert is a North Allegheny High School graduate and she works in research and development.
