Emergency Sewer Repairs On Baum Blvd. To Impact Traffic

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Drivers who commute to work on Baum Boulevard where it intersects with Bigelow Boulevard might want get an early start Friday morning, because of expected delays.

Officials with the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority say crews have to make emergency repairs to an 18-inch sewer line.

It's located on Baum Boulevard at the intersection of Melwood Avenue in Pittsburgh's Oakland-Shadyside neighborhood.

Baum is now closed to eastbound traffic at Melwood, which means drivers have to detour on Melwood to South Millvale.

The PWSA announced there will be no parking in the affected detour area.

Drivers on Baum turning onto Bigelow Boulevard will be channeled into a single lane as they approach the intersection of Melwood.

The contractor has equipment on site and work on the sewer line is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Friday.

They hope to have work finished by Monday morning.
