RUFFSDALE (KDKA) – A local grandmother is still reeling after a man with a gun barged into her home and threatened her life if she didn’t hand over her prescription medication.
“I don’t want to go outside,” Sandy Tarr, the victim, said. “I’m afraid someone is out there and [will] just shoot me down.”
Tarr, 63, has good reason after what happened to her inside her Ruffsdale home. She was with company when it happened.
“Suddenly, the door barges open. Here comes a guy in, he’s got a stocking over his face and a handgun pointing it straight at me,” said Tarr. “He’s screaming, ‘Gimme your prescriptions, you’re wallet, your cell phone. I want everything.”
Horrified, Tarr tried to comprehend what was going on and comply.
“You’re life flashes in front of you,” she said. “It’s indescribable.”
The armed man took a wallet belonging to Tarr’s friend and a phone.
As the robber was walking out of the front door, Tarr said, “he turns around at me and Joe, and says if either of you follow me, I’ll shoot you dead.”
Hands shaking, Tarr called 911.
“They took my dignity,” she said. “Now I’m mad, I’m furious.”
She’s also still very frightened because they also took her sense of security, which may be gone for good.
“I’m so scared to sleep at night ‘cause my bedroom is clear in the back,” she said. “I’m just petrified.”
Police say they’re working on several leads.
