Consumer Reports' Winners & Losers At Costco

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - If you belong to Costco, you know it's easy to fill up your shopping cart fast.

Shoppers like Donna Kasievich love the variety inside the warehouse store.

"One of my favorite things to buy here is clothes because I always seem to find something here," says Kasievich.

You can get some great deals, but not everything is a winner says Consumer Reports.

Consumer Reports has just released its list of the winners and losers from the warehouse store.

Winners:

Bacon: Costco's Kirkland Signature Regular Sliced Bacon is a winner, getting top marks in a Consumer Reports' taste test.

Ice Cream: According to Consumer Reports, the Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream beats out brands like Breyers and Baskin Robbins.

Laundry Detergent: Costco's Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean is tough on grass, blood and ring around the collar, according to Consumer Reports' testing.

Coffeemaker: A $30 Mr. Coffee BVMC-EHX33CP is one of the highest scoring models in Consumer Reports' ratings of drip coffeemakers.

Car Battery: The Kirkland Signature 12866 car battery for $85 is also a good bet.

It's easy to throw stuff in your cart, but Consumer Reports says there are some items at Costco that you should skip.

Losers:

Gas Grill: Consumer Reports says the Urban Islands Four-Burner Gas Grill by Bull is too expensive at $1,600 and doesn't maintain even heat.

Gel Dishwasher Detergent: Consumer Reports takes a pass on Costco's Gel Dishwasher Detergent. Consumer Reports' testing showed it struggled to clean pots and pans and dishes.

Facial tissue: The Kirkland Facial Tissue is ranked as just so -so.

Toilet paper: Consumer Reports also calls the Kirkland Toilet Paper just so -so.

Mattress: Consumer Reports calls out the $1,100 Ara 13" 100 percent Visco Memory Foam as being just so-so for side sleepers and even worse for people who sleep on their backs.

Costco does have a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee backed by a full refund if you return a product.
