Babysitter Accused Of Molesting Fayette Co. 4-Year-Old

DUNBAR TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man is in jail, charged in the alleged molestation of a little girl he was babysitting in Fayette County.

Investigators say the alleged incident took place in 2013 inside of 3117 West Crawford Avenue in Dunbar.

"Apparently, what happened was mom left the child with a babysitter, just a friend, not a family member or anything," State Police spokesperson Trooper Stefani Plume said.

State police identified the babysitter 26-year-old Chad William Miller. Not long after that day, the little girl started telling her mom disturbing things.

"The child then brought to mom's attention that something possibly inappropriate happened," Trooper Plume said.

Miller was already in the Fayette County Jail on unrelated charges when investigators started questioning him about what happened with the 4-year-old girl.

"There were some initial interviews conducted, then some subsequent interviews," Trooper Plume said. "The subject eventually admitted he did some inappropriate things with the child."

At the home where the alleged incident happened, Miller's friends and family declined comment on the incident.

State Police say this case is rare, that out of fear or embarrassment, most children say little if anything. But this case is remarkably different.

"In this case, she was brave enough to say something to her mother who then took the appropriate steps and contacted us," Trooper Plume said.

State police say the investigation is ongoing and are not ruling out the possibility of more victims coming forward.

Miller is in the Fayette County Jail on $50,000 straight cash bond, charged with multiple felonies including indecent assault and aggravated indecent assault on a child.
