1 Killed, 1 Injured In Sheraden Shootings

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating two shooting incidents that left one person dead an another injured in Sheraden on Sunday.

Officials say 50-year-old Darryl Terry was shot and killed in the 3300-block of Allendale Street, outside of the Allendale Market. Police say it appears to have started as a robbery.

A second person, a woman, was also shot and taken to the hospital. She was found shot several blocks away and was possibly a witness at the market.

"I heard a pop, so I get off my butt to come out and see what's going on because it sounded like a gunshot to me," said a witness who didn't want to be identified "And I heard a pop again, as soon as I open my door up, another pop. The one dude that was doing the shooting, standing on the sidewalk, and Daryl was running across the street. So the third shot hit him and he went down. And then the dude come up across the street and just laid four or five more into him and ran up the alley way."

Terry owned the market and had opened the store about a month ago.

Police spokesperson Sonya Toler says police believe the second victim may have witnessed the shooting and called 911, then was later shot.

The woman has not yet been identified, but is currently in Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.

The suspect has been described as being an African-American man between the ages of 18 and 23. He's 5-feet-9-inches tall with a thin build and has dreadlocks or braids in his hair and is possibly wearing glasses.
