Indiana Co. Fire Leaves 3 Dead

WHITE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - The state police fire marshal is investigating a fire that claimed the lives of two adults and a child in White Township, Indiana County Sunday morning.

Neighbors say they heard a loud explosion minutes before the home went up in flames at the Colonial Court Trailer Park around 3:30 a.m.

"Heard a big explosion," said neighbor Donald Phillips. "I came running out, I saw flames, nobody knows how it happened. It happened quick."

"I was woken by the blast I heard," said Johnny Walker, "you know, I got up and got out there. The front end was all engulfed."

Neighbors used axes and shovels to break the windows in an attempt to rescue the family.

However, they received no response from anyone inside and were forced to back away because of intense smoke and flames.

The Indiana County Coroner says the victims are 28-year-old Shawn Marsh, 27-year-old Nicole Novak and 9-year-old Gabbriella Novak.

Neighbors say Marsh lived there with his fiance Novak and three children. Marsh operated a tree service business in the community.

The couple's two other children were staying with their grandparents at the time of the fire.
