New Jake Gyllenhaal Movie Casting Extras Ahead Of Filming

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- First, it was Russell Crowe, and now, Jake Gyllenhaal is returning to Pittsburgh to make another movie.

A casting call has gone out for the new film, called "Southpaw," which will be shooting over the summer in Pittsburgh and Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Gyllenhaal is set to star in the drama about a champion boxer.

Back in 2009, Gyllenhaal spent time in Pittsburgh to film "Love and Other Drugs" with Anne Hathaway.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh native Antoine Fuqua will direct "Southpaw."

More than a thousand extras will be needed to portray boxing spectators.

The shoot will begin in Indiana County from in mid- to late-June, and then move to Pittsburgh in early-July through early-August.

An open casting call will be held at the Indiana Mall on Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

They are looking for men and women, ages 18 and older, of all backgrounds.
