Indiana Co. Man Shot, Killed During Argument

GRANT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed during an argument in Indiana County Sunday evening.

According to police, the incident happened along Buterbaugh Road in Grant Township around 6 p.m.

The victim has been identified as David Ackerson, 51, of Marion Center. Ackerson became involved in a verbal argument near his house with 59-year-old James Buterbaugh.

Buterbaugh left and traveled to a nearby gas well road. Ackerson allegedly followed and approached Buterbaugh.

Prior to pulling the trigger, Buterbaugh told Ackerson to leave and warned he would shoot.

Ackerson was transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Buterbaugh was taken into custody and is facing a list of charges including, homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

He is now being held in the Indiana County Jail.
