Scattered Showers, Storms Move Into Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The run of great weather we had over the long holiday weekend is over.

A number of severe weather watches and warnings have already been issued for parts of the area, and more are expected into the night.

Right now, there's a Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 9 p.m. for Cambria and Somerset counties.

KDKA Meteorologist Dennis Bowman says we need to watch out for scattered showers and storms.

"You do have to allow for some scattered showers and storms, maybe a little hail in some of these, and certainly, some briefly heavy rains and even some gusty winds," says Bowman.

"Warm and humid atmosphere continues right into [Wednesday] as we have a frontal passage that'll begin to take shape and that will result in more shower and storm activity," he added. "The clouds are beginning to sweep on in south of Pittsburgh."

The wet weather is expected to stick around through Wednesday and Thursday.

"Once this front goes through sometime [Wednesday], it's actually not going to wander too far to the south, down there to the south of us on Thursday," said Bowman. "We'll continue to get daily doses of showers and storms right on into the early part of Thursday before settling down."

On Friday, it looks like things will finally brighten up again with a high of 78 and partly sunny skies.
