2 Arrested After Police Find Heroin In Child's Backpack

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Beltzhoover man and another person were arrested after bundles of heroin were found in a child's book bag.

Police say children were also left alone during alleged drug deals.

The arrests were made after police say community members made complaints.

Dewayne Chatfield, 28, and a female companion were arrested Sunday, after police say they were found with more than 100 stamp bags of heroin marked "Always Good."

Police say he was found in the 800-block of Climax Street conducting a drug deal, where they also found cash and drugs.

A few blocks away at Chatfield's home, police say they found more cash, drugs and stamp bags in a child's backpack.

"The children lived in that residence ... therefore there were some child endangerment charges filed against the actor," said Pittsburgh Police Spokesperson Sonya Toler.

Chatfield and the woman were charged on multiple counts.

Both are currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
