Man Arrested, Charged In Reserve Twp. Luring

RESERVE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A man has been arrested for luring a 15-year-old boy he met through a phone app on Monday.

According to police, an officer noticed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Mount Troy Road in Reserve Township and initiated a traffic stop.

Jeremy Burnworth, 35, was driving the vehicle and had a teenager in the passenger's seat. Officers said both of them appeared to be nervous.

After speaking with the teen, it was determined that he was under the age of 18 and that he had left his home without permission from his parents.

The teen said he had met Burnworth through the Grindr app on his phone. Police searched the vehicle and found a banker's box containing, "numerous sex toys."

Police searched the conversations between the two on the app, which were sexual in nature. It was also determined that Burnworth had sent nude pictures of himself to the teen.

At one point in their conversations, the teen told Burnworth that he was 17. However, Burnworth told officers he had no recollection of receiving that message.

During questioning, Burnworth admitted that he intended to engage in sexual acts with the teen during their meeting. He also allegedly confessed to having sex with several others he met on Grindr and had been fooled once before by a juvenile claiming to be an adult.

Burnworth was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

He is facing a list of charges including corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal solicitation and criminal use of a communication facility.
