Polanco To Make Debut Tuesday, Walker Undergoes Appendectomy

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Neil Walker has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after he underwent an appendectomy Monday.

Walker was scratched from Monday's lineup late after leaving the ballpark to undergo surgery.

According to the Pirates' official website, they will recall Gregory Polanco from Triple-A Indianapolis for Tuesday's game.

Many have speculated that Polanco would be called up soon, but Walker's surgery seems to have bumped up his debut.

Polanco took to Twitter to announce his excitement at being able to join the team Tuesday, saying "The wait is over.... My dream has officially come true ⚾️ Pittsburgh, see you mañana!!"

With Triple-A Indianapolis, Polanco has a .347 batting average, to go along with a .945 OPS. He also has seven home runs, 49 RBIs and 15 steals.

The Bucs are losing one of their most consistent players with Walker out though.

Josh Harrison is expected to take over at second base in Walker's absence.
