Man Climbs Out Window To Escape Homestead Fire

HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- A three-alarm fire sent crews to a building in Homestead Friday night.

The fire broke out in the 800-block of Ann Street.

Heavy smoke was reportedly coming from the building -- including from Elroy Moore's apartment. He says he was asleep and awoke to find his home filled with smoke and scrambled to get out of his apartment.

"Next thing I know, I look out the window, they say there's a fire in my apartment, so I'm like hold up, I can't get out of here, so I touch the door, it was hot, so all I could see was all this so smoke, so I had to climb out the window," said Moore.

The fire was reported after a woman noticed the smoke and called 911.

There's no word yet on injuries or what sparked the fire.
