Heinz Employees Make 100K Meals For Those In Need
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Friday morning Heinz employees assembled more than 100,000 meals in an effort to stop hunger worldwide.
The packages are being distributed by the Stop Hunger Now's global distribution network.
The event is the first employee initiative under a new partnership between the International Hunger Relief Agency and the Heinz Micro-Nutrient Campaign.
More than 400 employees gathered in PPG's Wintergarden to put the meals together.
"As a company, one of our core values has always been to give back to the community, but to be able to do it in this way, on this scale, is something that's really special and I think you can see that by looking out across the room today," said Jenece Upton with the HMC Foundation.
According to Heinz, the company created the HMC in 2001 to enhance access to nutritional supplements that promote healthy growth and development.
