1 In Custody, 3 Injured In Springdale High Rise Stabbing

SPRINGDALE (KDKA) -- Police have one man in custody following a stabbing at a Springdale hi-rise that sent three people to the hospital Friday evening.

Authorities were called to the Springdale Manor, a high rise in the 500-block of Pittsburgh Avenue around 7:30 p.m. The complex is an eight-story high rise.

According to the Springdale police chief, three people from the high rise were taken to the hospital for injuries consistent with puncture wounds.

Authorities haven't said what events led up to the three people being injured, but do have a person of interest that they're speaking with.

KDKA's Marty Griffin reports he is a man in his early 60s and is a resident there.

The incident reportedly took place on the sixth floor of the Allegheny County public housing building.

Two people were taking the Allegheny General Hospital.

One person was taken to St. Margaret Hospital

Police have not released the conditions of the three people but one person was taken by Lifeflight to Allegheny General Hospital. The two others were transported by ambulance.

Doctors are treating their injuries as serious, according to police.

Allegheny County detectives including the homicide division were on scene late into Friday night.
