Kapanen On Draft And What It'll Be Like To Play With Crosby, Malkin

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Penguins first-round draft pick Kasperi Kapanen talked to Bob Pompeani after being drafted.

He talked about how he feels right now and about how well he knows Olli Maatta.

"It feels really good right now obviously to be drafted by the Penguins," Kapanen said. "They have such a great franchise and I'm really excited to be picked by them, but this is just the beginning and I'm looking forward to making this team someday."

Kapanen says a lot of his game has to do with his speed and what he does off of the puck.

Pompeani asked him what he needs to work on and he says probably his defensive play.

Kapanen also opens up about his father playing in the NHL and how much of an influence he had on him growing up.

He also talks about what it was like to see the Penguins play and what it will be like to play with Crosby and Malkin.
