PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – After tearing it up for the month of June and shooting up the All-Star voting ballots, Pirates Center Fielder Andrew McCutchen has been named the National League Player of the Month.

McCutchen led the NL in extra-base hits with 12 doubles and eight home runs in 26 games while tying for the lead in home runs and RBIs. The hot streak also saw McCutchen’s average rise from .298

McCutchen’s hot month also helped propel the Pirates to a 17-10 record in June which got the team back over .500 and into the wild card race.

Other players receiving votes included Milwaukee’s Jonathan Lucroy and Scooter Gennett and Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton.

This is McCutchen’s third player of the month award.
