2 Jailed For Allegedly Forcing Boys To Smoke Pot

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) - "It's a nightmare - and this horror, I just pray it's gonna be over soon."

Peggy Brinker was beside herself after her daughter's arrest.

Police say 18-year-old Kaylee Lashae Brinker, and her 43-year-old boyfriend Kenneth Chester Zykowski, restrained Kaylee's nephews, ages 11 and 13, in the basement of a house in South Connellsville on April 11.

"And he brainwashed her - and she wasn't there when it happened," said Brinker.

Brinker says her daughter was upstairs getting snacks when the marijuana smoking was allegedly going on in the basement, and that when she returned the door was jammed until Zykowski opened it.

"And that's when she found her nephews on the floor," she said.

The boys were sickened.

"They threw up and passed out from the weed," Brinker said.

Brinker says her daughter is mentally challenged and easily led.

"Not too great in the head," she said. "She can't tell time. She don't know how to county money. You know she really listened to him."

Police were unaware of what happened to the boys in that house in April until June 23. That's when Peggy Brinker says she learned that Zykowski was beating her daughter - not for the first time. She called police.

Peggy says her grandsons are in counseling.

Kaylee Brinker and Kenneth Zykowski are charged with child endangerment, unlawful restraint, and corruption of minors.

The couple was arrested by Connellsville Police. They remain in the Fayette County Prison on $15,000 bonds.
