PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Gerrit Cole is heading to the disabled list for the second time this season.

The right-hander has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his lat.

Cole already missed about three weeks earlier this season with shoulder fatigue.

On Friday, Cole was removed after five shutout innings against the Phillies with soreness in his right lat.

So far this season, the 23-year-old hurler has a 7-4 record to go along with a 3.78 ERA with 78 strikeouts.

Brandon Cumpton is expected to be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Cole’s spot in the rotation.
