Jogger Sexually Assaulted In Friendship

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted a woman in Friendship.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday in the 400-block of Roup Street.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the victim was returning home after going for a run when she said she was confronted at knifepoint.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was able to fight back and suspect got away on foot.

Police believe the attack was random.

"We want to make sure that this is random, and find this person before they have an opportunity to do something else," Pittsburgh Public safety spokesperson Sonya Toler said.

He is described as an African American man in his 30s. He was six-foot-two, 160 to 170 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing an orange shirt and dark blue or black "windbreaker" pants.

Authorities say he also had "lines" and a "star" design cut into his hair.

Police searched the area for more than an hour, but didn't find anything.

Neighbors say this type of thing is unusual.

"I mean it's usually a nice neighborhood, for that to happen, and no one to see what happened, it's surprising."

Anyone with information on the suspect in asked to call 911.
