Washington Co. Girl Uninjured After Vehicle Strikes Bedroom

MORRIS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was injured after a car struck a house in Washington County Thursday morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, the accident happened in the 5000-block of Prosperity Pike in Morris Township around 7:30 a.m.

The vehicle slid about 600 feet, struck a tree and then the part of the house where a 9-year-old girl was sleeping.

"If that tree wouldn't have been there, that pickup truck probably would have gone through the house," Morris Township Fire Chief Dave Dietrich said. "It's a good thing that tree was there."

The driver, Forest Wood, 19, of Holbrook, was flown to a local hospital with possible head injuries.

It took emergency crews about 20 minutes to extricate Wood from the vehicle.

No one inside the home was injured.

The cause of the accident is not known, but police are investigating if speed was a factor.
