Truck Hits Street Sweeper, Then Building

KITTANNING (KDKA)- A man is expected to be charged after crashing his truck into a street sweeper and then a building early Friday morning.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Walnut Street and South Jefferson Street in Kittanning.

Police say the pick-up truck came around the bend and hit a Kittanning Borough street sweeper, and that speed and alcohol may have played a part.

The truck then bounced off the street sweeper and took out the corner of the Klingensmith Pharmarcy warehouse.

The crash put a big hole in the warehouse, knocking down bricks and breaking windows. The warehouse is used to store household items. No pharmaceuticals are stored there.

"You saw the impact of the crash on the building," said Sam Duncan who towed the car from the scene. "Now take a look at the truck, the front end smashed, the windshield crushed and the steering wheel mangled."

Duncan says the driver was 21-year-old Timothy Crytzer Junior.

"I used to drive a school bus," he said. "I drove him to school when he was in elementary school."

Witnesses say Crytzer ran from the scene.

Crytzer went to Kittanning Hospital to get checked out. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

The driver of the street sweeper was not seriously hurt.

Police are investigating the crash and charges are pending against the pick-up truck driver.
