100-Year-Old Pirates Fan Gets To Meet Her Favorite Player

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Chicora woman’s birthday announcement in a local newspaper led to her meeting her favorite Pittsburgh Pirate.

Regen T. Green was mentioned in the Butler Eagle for her 100th birthday back in June.

The short article mentions that Andrew McCutchen is her favorite player, reading “She loves the Pittsburgh Pirates, especially Andrew McCutchen, casinos and spending time with loved ones.”

Well, turns out she got The Cutch’s attention.

A YouTube video from June shows McCutchen wishing Green happy birthday and Monday she was out on the field before the game against the Dodgers.

On the field Monday, McCutchen also was seen handing Green a green T-shirt reading “The Gene Green is 100” — possibly a late birthday present.
