Police Arrest Derry Twp. Man Accused Of Torturing, Threatening Woman
GREENSBURG (KDKA) — State Police in Westmoreland County have arrested a man who they say is accused of threatening and torturing a woman over a period of five days earlier this month.
James Lang, Jr., 56, is facing charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and harassment.
Police say they arrested Lang Monday at the Derry Township home where the alleged incident happened.
According to police, he is accused holding a knife to the woman’s throat and threatening to slit her throat, as well as gouging her eyes, punching her, slapping her and head-butting her between July 12 to 17.
The woman suffered bruising, lacerations, eye contusions and a broken nose during the ordeal.
Troopers were able to arrest Lang without incident. The reason for Lang’s behavior?
“One of the complaints was there was heroin withdrawal going through the residence and that was part of the problem,” said State Police Tpr. Steve Limani.
“It’s annoying, it’s aggravating,” said Lang’s daughter Rachel Miller.
Miller’s sister and Lang’s other daughter is Samantha Lang, the 22-year-old woman who was murdered inside her Derry Township home in March of 2007.
“My sister’s killer is still out there, probably sitting out there still laughing ’cause the attention is off of him yet again and the Lang name is yet again in the paper for all the wrong reasons,” said Miller.
Samantha was found lying in a pool of blood after her throat was slashed.
Police say Lang threatened to slit the woman’s throat “like Samantha’s was slit.”
James Lang, Jr. and his son were both incarcerated in the Westmoreland County Jail at the time of Samantha’s death.
James Lang, Jr. is now back in the Westmoreland County Jail.
His daughter’s murder remains unsolved. No one has been charged in her death.
Earlier this year, Samantha’s family increased the reward for information that leads to an arrest in her murder to $50,000.
