1 Injured In Swissvale Park & Ride Shooting
SWISSVALE (KDKA) - Allegheny County Police are looking into a shooting at a local Park and Ride.
According to police, the shooting happened around midnight at the Park and Ride off of Vernon Avenue in Swissvale.
A Port Authority spokeswoman says a man had entered the Swissvale Park and Ride station from the street when he was shot twice.
One of the bullets hit his wrist, the other hit his stomach. One of the bullets also shattered the bus shelter glass.
After the young man was hit, he made his way to a lot off of Jackson Street in Rankin.
The lot is between Hawkins Village and the busway.
Rankin's Police Chief said one of his officers was patrolling the area and heard the man screaming for help. The officer then got medical attention for him before he was taken to a local hospital.
The victim's name has not been released.
The news of the shooting has some bus riders worried.
"I take this bus. I live over the hill, so yes it's scary when it's this close to home. I won't be up here at night," Joddha McDougal said
Allegheny County Detectives continue their search for the shooter.
