Motorcyclist Killed In Beaver Co. Crash

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A motorcyclist was killed in a head on-crash in Beaver County Thursday morning.

According to police, the crash happened on Route 30 near Hozack Road in Independence Township around 12:30 a.m.

State Police said William Way, 22, of Clinton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Way was traveling east on Route 30 when he lost control around a curve, when the motorcycle went into the path of an oncoming Nissan Versa.

After Way hit the car, police said he was thrown into its windshield.

Way borrowed the motorcycle from a friend and was not wearing a helmet.

Way's grandfather, a volunteer with the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department,  spoke to KDKA-TV's Amy Wadas.

He says he is relieved he was not working when the crash happened, or else he could have responded to the call.

The last time he saw his grandson, who he calls "Willie," was at dinner Tuesday night.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The state police barracks in beaver is handling the investigation.
