Teen Saved From Near Drowning At Motel Pool

WILKINS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A young man was resuscitated after nearly drowning in an indoor pool at a motel in Wilkins Township this evening.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. at the Comfort Inn on Rodi Road.

The young man has not been identified, but he's believed to be in his teens to 20s.

According to a witness, the victim was in the deep end of the pool when he went under the water.

"They thought he was playing, but he couldn't swim," said Stephen Wesby, a witness. "They don't think he could swim."

A group of people at the pool then pulled the young man from the water.

Wesby says his daughter, who happens to be nurse, came to the victim's aid.

"My daughter, she went and worked on him cause she's a nurse," said Wesby. "So she went and did some work on him, and the other people had revived him by the time she got there anyway."

Penn Hills and Wilkins Township Police were called to the scene, as well as paramedics.

The young man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

"He's saved; right now, he's headed to the hospital to get the water… to get his lungs opened back up," said Wesby.

There's no word on the young man's condition.
