East Hills Infant's Death Under Investigation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The death of a 6-week-old baby girl in the East Hills is under investigation by Pittsburgh Police.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 8400-block of Dersam Street.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the infant's mother called 911 after waking up and finding the baby unresponsive.

The Allegheny Medical Examiner's Office reports the child was taken to Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m.

The little girl is now being identified as Kamaree Stewart.

Investigators say the baby may have been in bed with the mother and her boyfriend when, at some point, she stopped breathing.

Officials say they are investigating whether one of them may have rolled onto the baby while they were sleeping.

Foul play is not suspect.

Pittsburgh Police Homicide detectives continue to investigate the incident.
