Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette: Things Are Heating Up At Steelers Camp

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined the Cook and Poni Show on Tuesday morning to discuss the latest from Steelers Training Camp in Latrobe.

Bouchette told the guys that it was a very interesting, hard-hitting day on Monday. The Steelers conducted their first full practice with pads on and the guys took full advantage of the contact. He called it the best first day of contact in the Mike Tomlin era.

The Steelers are also are facing some decisions on guys in the final year of their contract, like their top corner Cortez Allen.

"I am under the impression they are unlikely to sign any of them," Bouchette said. "There is not a real high opinion on Cortez Allen and I don't see them signing him."

Bouchette also told the guys that he is a little surprised by the comments made by former wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders who will be catching passes from Peyton Manning in Denver this year. Sanders says Ben is a winner, but Peyton is a much better leader and willing to put in more work with the receivers.

"I don't think some of these guys think about what the repercussions may be. Not that there may be any big repercussions, but how it's going to affect guys they were close to. Guys they played with, guys who helped their career," Bouchette said. "Ben could fire right back and say maybe if he didn't drop a few passes we would have been in the playoffs last year."

Bouchette also talked about Ben's future contract and his feelings on whether or not the quarterback will finish his career as a Pittsburgh Steeler, and he also thinks that the ship has not sailed on the possibility of bringing back Brett Keisel.
