New Marketing Campaign Aims To Promote Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Tourism officials want to let the world know why the city of Pittsburgh is one of the best places to visit in the country.

A huge marketing campaign was announced Tuesday by tourism officials at “Visit Pittsburgh.”

The campaign will celebrate our city and the recent accolades Pittsburgh has received from several of the most respected national publications in the country.

Craig Davis is the President and CEO of VisitPittsburgh, “there are so many different awards that we’ve won” said Davis. “It would be hard to point to one particular award that would define us but I think when we won the National Geographic Travel Magazine One of the top 20 places in the world to visit back in 2012 that really started it. The travel channel distinction is wonderful for us because people identify with the Travel Channel.”

The campaign includes a commercial as well as print, web and mobile ads in key destinations including Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C. and Toronto.

“VisitPittsburgh” is also asking residents to help spread the word about how great Pittsburgh by sharing news and information that have been written about the city.
