PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – After just one shaky relief appearance Monday night against the Detroit Tigers in which he pitched just two-thirds of an inning while giving up three hits and two earned runs, the Pirates have optioned reliever Casey Sadler back to Triple-A Indianapolis and have recalled pitcher Brandon Cumpton.

Cumpton has pitched out of the rotation in Indy and Pittsburgh throughout the season, but was recently moved to the bullpen with the Indians and will likely serve in that role with the Pirates.

While starting for the Pirates this year, Cumptone went 3-3 with a 4.98 ERA in 10 starts while going 5-4 with a 3.03 ERA in 12 games (11 starts) with Indy.
