Local Mother Charged After Apartment Is Found In Deplorable Conditions

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) -- A local mother is behind bars in Beaver County, after officials reportedly found the apartment where she and her family were staying to be in deplorable conditions.

Officials say 26-year-old Davinia McNeal of McKeesport has been forbidden from Beaver County Housing Authority property.

She is facing charges of trespassing and endangering the welfare of a child.

McNeal had allegedly been living in her brother's Crestview Village apartment in Ambridge -- police say she wasn't supposed to be there and was trespassing.

"According to the officers, there was apparently human feces smeared into the floor, cigarette butts, half-eaten food laying all over the place, dirty clothes," said Ambridge Police Lt. Brian Jameson.

One neighbor was appalled.

"Kids are not supposed to live like that," the neighbor said."They deserve to have a clean home."

On entering, police found McNeal's husband, Derrick Hundley, lying on a couch. They also found six children ages 1 to 13 living in the filthy conditions.

The mattress McNeal's two children slept on was saturated with urine. There was no edible food in the refrigerator or cabinets.

The children are now in the custody of their grandmother who lives in Braddock.

McNeal is being held in the Beaver County Jail.
