Dr. Ed Rhymes Discusses Relationship Between Police And Black Men In America Following Ferguson

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - In the wake of the events in Ferguson, Missouri, has the effort to progress Race Relations in this country gone backwards? That was the question asked when Author and Public Speaker, Dr. Ed Rhymes, came on the Chris Moore Show this past weekend.

There is still unrest in Ferguson following the shooting death of a black 18-year old by a white police officer.

"Since 2012, unarmed blacks were the victims of 136 extrajudicial killings," said Dr. Rhymes. "These are not armed men. We need to have a better relationship and police officers need to not look at black males as problems to be solved."

They also compared the situation in Ferguson to other situations involving Police including a local incident from years ago.

"He (Poplawski) shoots and kills 3 police officers and he injures others," said Dr. Rhymes. "And yet, Poplawski walks out of his home with handcuffs, alive while unarmed black men are getting killed in the streets."
