PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you’re headed to the Pittsburgh Pirates game on Saturday, you will likely want to plan ahead.
The Pirates play the Cincinnati Reds at 4 p.m. Saturday.
However, Pitt is hosting Delaware at Heinz Field with a noon kickoff that day, too.
For the Pirates game, parking lots and garages on the North Shore will be open only to those who have passes and not to cash customers.
ALCO Parking said spots that are reserved for Pitt games and Pirates games are shared spaces and do overlap.
This is the first time where there will be be overlap from a Pitt game into a Pirates game. And Pitt fans aren’t expected out before 3:30 p.m.
Parking lots will open at 7 a.m. for the Pitt game. If you have a reserved spot for the Pirates game, you will be allowed in only after kickoff for the Pitt game and only if there is an available spot.
“Our lots open at 7 a.m. for the Pitt game,” said Ralph Reetz, of Alco Parking. “The Panther fans that have reserved parking are welcome to park here.”
Officials anticipate some available spots at that time, but are unsure of an exact amount.
“Saturday is a big tailgating day for Pirate fans,” said Reetz. “Pitt has all the parking for the first game, so until they vacate and leave following their game there’s not much room for Pirate fans.”
Cash customers will need to find another place to park, such as the garages Downtown.

In addition to the sporting events, the Coors Light Kickoff and Rib Festival began Thursday and runs through Monday.
Saturday’s events begin at 10 a.m. and go until midnight.
“They need to go directly into town and park at one of the garages and take the free T or park at Allegheny Center,” said Reetz for the Ribfest-goers.
Or you can park on the other side of Heinz Field in the Carnegie Science Center lots for $45.
