Source: Body Found Near Stowe Twp. Train Tracks May Have Been Dumped

STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body found in the woods near the train tracks in Stowe Township Friday afternoon.

It's unclear who made the discovery, but KDKA has learned that the victim was a man who was 300 pounds or more.

While it's still early in the investigation, it appears that the body was dumped there after a homicide, according to a source.

"It's scary. It really hits close to home," said Melissa Rippole who lives up over the hill and says normally people only go into that area to go fishing.

The area is so remote detectives used an all-terrain vehicle provided by the Stowe Township Fire Department.

Ashley Pucci, who also lives nearby, says some people also go to the area near the tracks to go "scrapping."

"There's metal down there, old train tracks, people steal copper, aluminum," said Pucci. "But you wouldn't think they're down there dropping a body off."

There's no word yet on the victim's identity.
