Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 11-Year-Old Girl

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –A man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl over a six-year period.

According to police, 35-year-old Richard Michael Meglaye is accused of molesting a girl beginning when she was only 11-years-old.

Detective John Wybrandowski, Jr. tells KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson, "the initial incident was reported to us from a social service agency in North Carolina where the victim was living.

The assaults began with Meglaye kissing and fondling the child at a public park, according to the criminal complaint.

Meglaye had a personal and business relationship with the girl's parents, which gave him unsupervised contact with the girl, including sleepovers.

By the time she was 13, Meglaye was allegedly having multiple sexual encounters with the child. The last contact was this past July.

Over six years, the alleged encounters occurred in North Strabane Township, Hempfield, Cranberry Township and Youngwood.

Investigators indicated that Meglaye also gave the girl alcohol and illegal drugs.

Meglaye is facing ling list of charges including: corruption of minors, indecent assault, aggravated assault, intimidation and statutory sexual assault.
